The appeals trial of two ASVDH members and human rights defenders, Mr. Brahim SABBAR [left] and Mr. Ahmed SBAI [right], was deferred to 23 January. These two human rights defenders refused to present themselves in court when their prison directors refused to guarantee their safety during their transport out of the prison. These two feared attacks by Moroccan policemen while in transit, which has happened to other Sahrawi prisoners in similar situations.
The Sahrawi political prisoner, Mr. Abdessalam LOUMADI, was also called, today, to appear before the second degree court of El-Ayoune. Mr. LOUMADI, has also refused to present himself without guarantees for his safety. His trial, in the same way, was deferred to 23 January.
Mr. ASFARI Ennaama, human rights defender and co-president of CORELSO [bottom], in detention in the local prison of Smara, expects a lawsuit on Monday January 15, 2007. Following this deferment, ASVDH launches an urgent call to all the organizations of human rights to support these prisoners, and to send observers and lawyers, to guarantee an equitable lawsuit to them.
