El-Ayoune – Western Sahara
Tuesday May29, 2007

The Sahrawi students held recently with Rabat, appeared, today, Tuesday May 29, 2007, before the court of first authority of Rabat. The court decided to defer the meeting to June 05, 2007. These students’ situation is very alarming because of the ill treatment that they have endured during the police custody, as seen during this trial by international observers, in particular, Mr. Augustin KEMANDJOU member of the office of the AIJD (International association of the Democratic Lawyers) and president of the African Association of Lawyers, and Mrs. Julie BOUDET of the Swiss Ligue for Human rights; likewise, Sahrawi lawyers and other lawyers of the AMDH (Moroccan Human Rights Association).

We point out that this lawsuit proceeded under extraordinary conditions and under the strong presence of various bodies of Moroccan secrity. We also point out that these nine students are shown of armed assembly and destruction of public goods. The court decided to defer the sentencing to Tuesday May 29, 2007.
