El-Ayoune – Western Sahara

The Sahrawi ex-political prisoner, Mr. Bachir YAYA, was arrested, yesterday Tuesday July 24, 2007, at 18: 00 GMT, at the border Mauritania – Western Sahara, while he was travelling back from Mauritania. The family of Mr. YAYA affirms that her son was arrested in company of a group of Mauritanian travellers. The latter are always held in the centre of the Moroccan police force in Dakhla, whereas the fate of Mr. YAYA is sill unknown since the police services refuse to recognize his detention.

We point out that Mr. YAYA had been arrested last year at the same border and had been savagely tortured as well as members of his family.

In this respect, Mr. Mohamed TAHLIL, president of the local committee of the ASVDH, in Boujdour and Sahrawi ex- political prisoner, who had been arrested on Monday July 16, 2007 on the border, appeared, today, July 25, 2007, before the court of first authority in El-Ayoune. The lawsuit of Mr. TAHLIL was deferred at September 12, 2007.
