The Sahrawi political prisoner, Mr. Abdessalama LOUMADI, imprisoned in the Black Prison, was released today, Friday August 24, 2007, after the sentence of one year of prison ended. Mr. LOUMADI was swarmed upon his exit at the time of his reception by his family in front of the door of the Prison.
We point out that Mr. LOUMADI had been condemned by the second degree court to one year and half on March 20, 2007. This sentence was reduced to one year by the court of appeal on May 15, 2007.
At the same time, two young Sahrawis, Mr. Mohamed HALI, detained since August 18, 2007, and Mr. Hassanna ALIA, detained since August 20, 2007, were released also today, Friday August 24, 2007. The two young Sahrawis, who were held in an unknown place, confirm to have undergone various forms of torture and to have spent all the period of their detention under inhuman conditions. They also affirmed being subjected to physical interrogations as to their activity and their relations with the Sahrawi human rights defenders.
Moreover, Mr. Hassanna DOUIHI, who had been arrested on August 22 and released, after being savagely tortured and maltreated, on August 23 confirms that the judicial police continue to persecute him and to supervise his house day and night. The Moroccan police force had confiscated the car of Mr. DOUIHI and continues to refuse to return it to him.
