El-Ayoune – the Western Sahara

The Moroccan State continues its oppressive policy against ASVDH through the detention of its members and their prosecution. Mr. Mohamed TAHLI, president of the Committee Local of the section of ASVDH in Boujdour, appeared, yesterday Wednesday September 12, 2007, before the court of first authority. It decided to defer this lawsuit to Wednesday September 19, 2007. In this respect, we recall that several member of ASVDH have been subjected to regular arrests, intimidation and pursuits for their activities and their adhesion to this association.

In addition, the Moroccan forces continue their repressive practices against the Sahrawi citizens who demonstrate peacefully. These forces repressed a peaceful demonstration which took place yesterday, Wednesday September 12, 2007, on Tan Tan Avenue in El-Ayoune. The intervention of the Moroccan repressive forces left a great number of victims and more than 16 arrests, according to certain sources. The list of the names of the prisoners available to ASVDH is as follows:
Mr. Mohamed BERKAN
Mr. Mohamed Fadel ELAASRI
Mr. Hassanna ALIA
Mr. Moulay Ali TOUBALI.

The families of these young Sahrawis affirm that their children were always tortured and are still in detention.
