Sahrawi Political Prisoner Released

The Saharawi political prisoner Mr. Said LOUMADI has been released today, Sunday, November 25, 2007, after spending a year in jail. We recall that Mr. Said LOUMADI, held in Inzegane (Morocco), was arrested on July 25, 2006 in El-Ayoun, interrogated and tortured before being transferred to Tan Tan in southern Morocco, where he was condemned on July 27, 2006 to a year and a half of prison and fined 5,000 Moroccan dirhams, under false charges (« drug trafficking »). The Moroccan Court of Appeal in Agadir reduced the sentence to one year on May 15, 2007. Mr. Said LOUMADI had also been arrested on June 17, 2006 for his participation in peaceful demonstrations.
