Report of the trial of three Sahrawi political detainees

The trial of the three Sahrawi political detainees, Mr. Mohamed BOUTABAA, Mr. Nafai SAH and Mr. Mohamed EBOUSSATI, was postponed today January 09, 2008, by the court of first instance of El-Ayoune, to February 06, 2008. The trial of the three Sahrawi political detainees was attended by international observers such as the Italian judge, Mr. Nicola (commissioned by the municipality of Naples), the lawyer Patrick Herzig (mandated by the Swiss League of Human Rights, lawyers Ms. Iness Miranda and Gustavo of the Supreme Council of Lawyers (Spain) and four Sahrawi lawyers. This trial has been marked by the presence of two minors of not more than 11 years who have been called to testify. The two minors were terrified by the atmosphere in the courtroom.

We recall that Mr. Mohamed BOUTABAA is accused of burning a soldier’s car, while Mr. Nafai SAH and Mr. Mohamed ELBOUSSATI are accused of burning a police car. The three detainees were arrested between June 17 and July 07, 2007.
