Subject: letter of congratulations on the release of detainees of May 1st

Dear Khadija RIYADI,

We have received with great delight in the Coordination of Sahrawi Associations and Committees in Western Sahara the news of the release of a group of Moroccan detainees of opinion, on Friday, April 4, 2008, known as prisoners of May 1st, especially detainees of the Moroccan Human Rights Association (ADMH). On this happy occasion, we would like to express our warm congratulations to you and through you we would like to congratulate the released detainees and their families and all the democrat human rights activists. And we assure you that this great victory of the human rights movement would not have been possible without solidarity efforts and the determination of families, activists to struggle for the right of these detainees to freedom.

We, also, won’t fail on this occasion to remind you, Ms. Khadija, the miserable situation of the Saharawi political prisoners, some of them are still on hunger strike at Inezgane jail, the repercussions of the recent strikes on their health, and the continuing series of unfair trials in Western Sahara. And while we express, once again, our warm congratulations, we reiterate that the delight will not be complete as long as there are political prisoners behind bars, and invite you to further work in this direction so that justice will be for all.

Sincerely.
