In appeal, two Sahrawi political prisoners sentenced to ten months

Two Sahrawi political prisoners appeared today, Tuesday, April 15, 2008, before the Court of Appeal of El-Ayoune. The appellate court pronounced a sentence of ten months in prison against Mr. Nafai SAH (left) and Mr. Abdallah ELBOUSSATI. We recall that the two detainees were arrested on July 8, 2007, at Izik, incarcerated on July 15 at the Black Prison and sentenced to one year in prison on February 6, 2008, by the court of first degree of El-Ayoune. They are accused of having set fire to a police car. The police officers had initially arrested the father of Mr. SAH on July 6 and assaulted his mother and sister in a raid on the home of the family.
Additionally, Sahrawi political prisoners Mr. Omar KHNIBILA, Mr. Bachir KHADDA, Mr. Mohamed BACHIRI, Mr. Abdessalam LOUMADI and Mr. Hassan DAH will appear before the court of first instance of El-Ayoune on April 30, 2008.
