ASVDH has learned that two young Sahrawi activists, Hayat Rguibi and Ngaya El-Haouassi, were prevented from traveling to Great Britain. They were detained at the Mohamed V airport in Casablanca this morning at 10:00 and interrogated by security services. Both said their passports and tickets to Great Britain were confiscated by Moroccan airport authorities. They claim to have received abusive treatment. Moroccan authorities are refusing to let them travel abroad.

Since the events following the 2005 demonstrations in Western Sahara, Moroccan authorities have subjected these two young activists to intimidation, harassment, physical and sexual abuse.

The two activists were subjected to torture and ill-treatment since the events triggered the territory in 2005 until today, despite their young ages at that time.

ASVDH strongly condemns these human rights violations that fall on the Saharawi people for so long and especially after the last speech of King Mohammed 6, which induces to attack all Saharouis who are not with the official line on the Moroccan Sahraoui conflict
