Two new Western Saharan arrests by Morocco at Mauritanian border

Moroccan checkpoint at Western Sahara-Mauritania border
Moroccan authorities have arrested two Sahrawi activists in the center border of El Gargarat while returning from Mauritania today Saturday, November 21.

The two militants are Ahmed Salem Fahime, born in El-Aiun in 1950, a member of ASVDH, former victim of enforced disappearence by Morocco in the secret horrible detention centers Pisi Cimi, Agdez and Kelaat Megouna; and Mohamed Lbaikam born in 1979 in Laguira , Western Sahara, a member of committee against torture in Dakhla – Western Sahara.

They both feared being arrested by Moroccan authorities but they still insisted on returning back to Western Sahara.

ASVDH calls on international organizations to intervene to end the repression of civil liberties and violations of human rights in Western Sahara.
