Violent Intervention against the Sahrawi students

The Sahrawi students at the University Mohamed V, in Rabat, who observed a sit-in at the enclosure of the university city Suissi I, were victim of a violent intervention on behalf of the Moroccan security forces. This savage intervention resulted, in a first assessment, in 17 arrests and a great number of wounded in a serious state.

The intervention of today, Thursday May 17, 2007, at 4: 30 and at 9: 00 in the morning, follows a campaign of oppression and violence carried out by these Moroccan repressive forces, against the Sahrawi students, in all Moroccan Universities. This campaign already resulted in an odious crime against the Sahrawi student, Miss. Sultana KHAYA, who has lost her right eye following the savage aggression of which she was victim at the University Alqadi Ayad, in Marrakech. In addition, Miss. KHAYA and six other Sahrawi students, arrested in Marrakech, will appear before the court of Marrakech tomorrow Friday May 18, 2007.
