Wave of arrests in El-Ayoune targets Sahrawi children

Members of the Moroccan judicial police in El-Ayoune launched a wave of arrests targeting in particular Sahrawi children. Thus, the Moroccan judicial police force arrested, yesterday Thursday July 5, 2007, two Sahrawi children, Mohsine CHAMMAH and Sulaiman AYACH, with the Elfateh district in El-Ayoune, who were released later on after having undergone an intense interrogation. The Moroccan police force also arrested the young Sahrawi, Mansour JDAI, 17 years old, with the Lahchaicha district, in El-Ayoune, who has also undergone an interrogation under torture. In the same way, the Moroccan police force tried to violate the house of the family of the Sahrawi child, Nafai SAH, but the family of this child has resisted against this attempt.

We point out that the Moroccan police forces launched this wave of arrests after a police car was burned, to the Elfateh district in El-Ayoune, and that three of the policemen suffers from burns. The Moroccan police force imposes a state of siege on the district and also a curfew in night.
