New trial of Brahim SABBAR and Ahmed SBAI postponed

The trial of the secretary general of ASVDH, Mr. Brahim SABBAR, and the member of its Council of Coordination, Mr. Ahmed SBAI, and four other Sahrawi political prisoners (Mr. Elhafed TOUBALI, Mr. Ahmed Salem AHMEIDAT, Mr. Mohamed Lehbib ELGASMI and Mr. Abdessalam LOUMADI), was deferred to October 1st, 2007.

We point out that these six prisoners were going to appear, today Monday, July 9th, 2007, before court of first authority for having offended the magistrates. This new charge, according to sources’ highly reliable, was given in a circular of the ministry for Moroccan justice to oblige the Sahrawi political prisoners not to stress slogans posting the political positions relating to the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.

ASVDH recalls that this third lawsuit against Mr. Brahim SABBAR and second against Mr. Ahmed SBAI, targets actually its activity and that of its members. In this respect the asvdh highly denounces these iniquitous lawsuits and calls for the release of its members and all the Sahrawi political prisoners in all Moroccan prisons.

Moreover the asvdh recalls the critical situation of the strikers Sahrawi students in Salé and Tiznit and invites the international community to intervene to prevent that the tragedy of death of the Sahrawi prisoner Mr. Dada Ali Ould Hamma Ould Nafaa, does not reproduce any more.
