Appeal hearing of Sahrawi students in Rabat, new arrests in El-Ayoune
10 Jul 2007 | Information/Update, Political Prisoners
The Sahrawi students, imprisoned with the local prison of Salé (Morocco), appeared before the Court of Appeal, today Tuesday July 10, 2007. These students had been condemned, by the court of first authority of the same city to 8 months of firm prison. The Court of Appeal decided to reduce the sentence pronounced against these students to 4 months except for the Sahrawi ex- political prisoner, Mr. Lakhlifi Eljanhaoui. In this respect, we point out that these students always carry out their unlimited hunger strike whereas the penitentiary direction maintains its indifference.
In the same way, the Sahrawi students, imprisoned with the local prison of Marrakech, will appear on July 16, 2007 before the Court of Appeal of the same city.
In addition, the Moroccan police force, arrested, the day before yesterday, Sunday July 8, 2007 at 4: 00 GMT of the morning, two young Sahrwis at 35 km in the east of El-Ayoune, in an area called Izik. The group of the Moroccan police force, composed of 16 policemen into 3 civilian cars ‘Land rover 110′, had violated the house of the Sahrawi citizen, Mr. Brahim Ould Salek, to arrest the two young Sahrawis. The mothers of the two young Sahrawis affirm to be insulted and maltreated by this group of police force. The two young people Sahrawis are:
Mr. Nafaai Ould Beidi Ould Salama Ould Lafdeil SAH (born in 1988 in El-Ayoune), already sought by the police force which arrested his father as a hostage on July 6, 2007
Mr. Hamdi Ould Farah Ould Lafdeil (born in 1986 in El-Ayoune)
