Six months of prison against Mr. SADIK BOULLAHI

The First Degree Court of El-Ayoune condemned, Thursday, 1st Novembre 2007, Mr. SADIK BOULLAHI, member of the executive bureau of ASVDH to six months prison and a fine of 5,000.00 Moroccan Dirhams ($500 US). Mr. BOULLAHI had been charged before the court for creating an unauthorized association.

We recall that this heavy sentence followed an illegal trial (Mr. BOULLAHI had no opportunity to defend himself against this charge) and comes in the context of the Morocco’s political attempts to block ASVDH and its work as a Saharawi human rights association. The proof that this trial was illegal is based on the verdict of the administrative court of Agadir (southern Morocco), which gave ASVDH the right to respond to a complaint that it had made against the Moroccan authorities.
