Unlimited hunger strike for Saharawi political prisoners in El-Ayoune, Salé

The Sahrawi political detainees in the black prison of El-Ayoune, among them Mr. Brahim SABBAR (left), secretary general of the ASVDH, will begin, Monday, February 25, 2008, an unlimited hunger strike. The aim of the strike is to demand respect for the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and to denounce the continuation of human rights violations in Western Sahara perpetrated by the Moroccan State. The Sahrawi strikers also express their solidarity with all the Sahrawi prisoners in different Moroccan prisons, as well as Moroccan political prisoners, among them members of the Moroccan Association of Human Rights (AMDH).
In Salé (Morocco), the Sahrawi political prisoner and human rights activist, Mr. Said ELBAILLAL (right), began Wednesday, February 20, 2008, an unlimited hunger strike. Mr. ELBAILLAL , arrested on December 27, 2008 in Smara and sentenced to eight months of prison, has already conducted hunger strikes for 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours to claim his legitimate rights, as prisoner of conscience.
