Moroccan authorities release three siblings after six hours of interrogation

The Moroccan authorities have released the three siblings, Mr. Lehbib Elbllal HADDA (62 years) and Mr. Hamma Elballal HADDA (54 years) and Ms. Akhanatha Elballal HADDA (50 years), on Thursday, May 15, 2008, after six hours of interrogation. The security forces had arrested the three at a check-point at the northern entrance of the town of El-Ayoune, and took them to the headquarters of the Provincial (Wilaya) Security at around three in the afternoon. According to the three, the reason for their arrest is their visit to Mauritania, given that the interrogation that they underwent focused on their personal information and reasons of their trip to Mauritania and their relations with some Sahrawi citizens in the refugee’s camps. The three were released without appearing before the Attorney General and without charges.
